Why Elianto: For beautifully protected skin

I am a Face Powder, Blush and Lip Gloss kind of girl, and I find it really hard to find a make-up that will suit my taste and will be suitable for my skin color, and discoloration for that matter.

I have had problems with my face color since I can remember, and don’t get me talking about the rest of my body. It is embarrassingly uneven in tone, there are patches of dark brown and light brown all over my body and it is also evident in some parts of my face.

Bright

When I saw the Elianto Brightening touch in the Elianto online Catalogue, I have been intrigued and excited to try it. The Brightening touch tube is a liquid cream that covers uneven spots on your face, including those dark eyebags, and the brightening touch will make your face look evenly bright and fabulous.

The next time I go to the mall, I will make sure to buy one of these lovely products because not only will it come in handy it comes with a color that I love for my skindarkEven though people say I have fair skin, I am most comfortable with dark colored make-ups and foundations and I’m happy to see that Elianto Brightening touch has a darker cream that is suitable for my liking.

foundationAnd one more product that I would love to try is the Elianto Oil Free Liquid Foundation with SPF 15. Don’t get me started on why. Well I will tell you even if you don’t ask, First, OIL FREE - I have always had problems with having an oily face, do you know those oil films that you buy to get the oil out of your face, I can make 2 of those strips transparent in one sitting, so having an oil free foundation will be most helpful in keeping my face looking fresh. Second, LIQUID - I hate powder foundations, it seems to me that they cover your clothes even before they cover your face, its messy and spreads unevenly. Having a liquid foundation will do wonders when you are wearing that all white dress for a very special date. And last but not the least SPF 15 - The sun is the number one enemy of our skin, and having a make up that will not just make us feel pretty but protect our skin is a big plus. And one foundation that has all three is certainly a must buy.

So the next time you head out to the mall, look for Elianto, I sure will.

A Son almost drowned and nobody else cared

I came across a blog from one of the mommies that is friends with a person I knew from facebook and her blog made me feel the anger and the hurt that I just had to repost.

CONTENTS:

My personal account of what happened last Saturday, May 29, 2010 during the CAL Swimming School Swim Event where my son Andrei almost drowned.

We have been informed of the CAL Swimming School Graduation and Swim Meet via SMS by Coach Tin of CAL Casa Milan since his 10-day swimming lessons ended few weeks prior to the said event. My son, Andrei, 5 y.o. is a beginner swimmer and since this will be a first time, we wanted him to experience the fun of being in a swimming competition – which by now I hope would still be the case.

Upon confirmation of our attendance for the Swim Meet, we were informed by Coach Tin that Andrei will be accompanied by a swimming coach during the event. This is one of the reasons why we have decided to make him attend the event. We are fully aware of our son’s limited swimming know-how given his age and his recently acquired knowledge in swimming.

Come May 29, 2010, Saturday we were all excited this momentous event in our son’s life. But it is sad that it turned out to be a parent’s nightmare.

Andrei was in the 25M Freestyle event of kids 6y.o. below.  I, the mother accompanied my son to the waiting bench upon the cue from Coach Derrick (of CAL Casa Milan) that his turn is near. I knew I had to be by my son’s side because the other kids were just roaming around and that being just a 5y.o., my son still couldn’t tend for himself and would probably have difficulty following instructions from people he barely knew much more from those who were so busy to even attend to each and every kids’ needs.

Come Event 13 which my son was in, the parents have decided to escort their kids by the pool side. One father (from the participants of event 13) even asked, “Wala bang magsasama sa mga bata dun sa pool? Mga bata pa yan, hindi pa nila alam yang mga ganyan.” - referring to the piece of paper given to kids to hand to their timers and to the instruction that they go to their assigned lane.

Then somebody came to the kids and got their papers (as he will instead hand them to the timers) because the kids were to dive in the pool from the other end (without the diving board).  The kids were asked to march out to the pool already. If I remember right, only 2 from CAL were there to escort the kids out from the waiting bench.

I was still hoping that somebody was on the side to come in case any one of the kids would need help. I was talking to my son if he was still okay to jump in. Then came the whistle – the cue that the race started. My son jumped in the pool like the other kids. He tried to swim a little but panicked later on because of the pools depth. He turned back to face me and then I saw him cry and struggled as he was slowly drowning. I looked around waiting for somebody from the CAL team or the QC Sports Club lifeguard to come and rescue him.

A few seconds more passed. In mixed feelings of shock, panic and worry for my son’s safety, I threw my bag and camera to the ground and jumped in to save him. I realized later on that my newly bought mobile phone was in the pocket of my jeans when I lunged in. I am not a trained swimmer but I somehow know the basics of swimming so I managed to grab him and take him to the pool side. It was only a few seconds after I jumped in the pool that somebody from CAL came and jumped in too.

My brother, who was on the other side of the pool came running towards our side after he saw what happened. Michael, my fiancé and Andrei’s dad, was on the other end of the pool since he was the one taking the video. We managed to take my son to the side and check on him.

It is sad that other than the one from CAL who came to help, nobody else checked on us if we were okay. No medical nor first aid what-have-yous were given. The guy from CAL (we were not able to get his name) only said, “Pasensya na ho.” to my brother after we were brought to the side – but walked away soon after.

For a little boy’s life to be ignored over seven other kids’ race is very disheartening. The race went on —- and nobody cared if there was a five year old kid in danger.

After we’ve checked that my son’s already calm and okay, we walked back to our table. My brother and Michael came over the organizer’s table to tell them what happened. What they got from one of the organizers (whom Coach Aris Lim himself believe as per our conversation later on was HIS brother) was, “So anong gusto niyong gawin namin?”. To which my fiancé retorted, “Tarantado ka ba, muntik nang malunod ang anak ko dun, at tatanungin mo ako kung anong gusto kong gawin?”…During the heated argument my fiancé also questioned the absence of lifeguards – and the same guy said, “Hindi ho kami lifeguards.”

Instead of apologizing for what was clearly lack of safety measures as well as negligence on the side of the organizers, the guy answered back arrogantly and as if one’s life was not much of importance. Should you be in our position as parents, even brothers or sisters, or grandparents, I AM SURE THAT YOU WOULD FEEL THE SAME WAY AS WE DID. A mother sitting on that side of the pool who saw what happened even approached us and told us that we should file a complaint.

I was in shock and barely talked afterwards. I still could not believe what could have happened should I acted too late to save my son – my one and only. Just so you know, I was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia back in 2005 and underwent bone marrow transplantation among many other surgeries. I am still not allowed to swim in communal pools because, even though I am already in remission, my immune system is still weak compared to normal healthy people.

I took the risk and initiative BECAUSE THE ONE IN DANGER IS MY SON. I could have done the same even with somebody else’s child. I am sure any one of you could have done the same. I am not telling my medical history here for anything else – it is just so you all know that I would do anything for my son and his life —- which THE ORGANIZERS COMPLETELY IGNORED. And that NOBODY FROM CAL sincerely apologized and made us feel that they also value our SON’S LIFE.

Coach Aris Lim’s apologies came very late – he only came to sit down and talk to us when we went to the HRD Office of the Quezon City Sports Club to file a complaint. I was still dripping wet, with no change of clothes but heard nobody from CAL offer me even a shirt to change to. QCSC HRD Manager Karen Layug was the one to offer me a CAL shirt but I declined as I was already on my way out to buy a shirt and shorts from the Sporting Goods Shop of the QCSC. Only a Php3,500 worth badminton shirt and shorts fit me so I had no choice but to buy those. You would probably feel the same way as I did – IN NO WAY THAT I WILL BE A WALKING ADVERTISEMENT OF AN ORGANIZATION THAT PUT MY SON INTO DANGER.

We are still waiting for the response from Coach Aris Lim and the Quezon City Sports Club regarding our complaint. We hope that this incident would never happen again. There were more than 100 kids during that event and the lack of contingency and safety measures would have probably made them all in danger —- just like what happened to my son.

IT IS A SHAME that from a “…Team of PASA accredited Coaches and registered swimming Teams” that claims to “ensure the highest quality of learning and training environment” (quoted from their facebook page) – ONE KID’S LIFE WAS SORELY NEGLECTED —- MY SON’S LIFE —- SOMETHING THAT CAN NEVER BE REPLACED.

BE CAREFUL —- CHOOSE WHO TO ENTRUST YOUR KIDS TO.

WILL NEVER RECOMMEND CAL SWIMMING SCHOOL TO ANYONE ANYMORE.

Recovered Trust

Today I posted my story about the inconvenient experience I had with Unionbank. I posted on their Fan Page:

“This has been a major inconvenience for me. The only money that I was counting on to buy todays food was in my EON Account, and I tried to withdraw a number of times.

Unionbank did not warn its customers of this problem and I personally am very unhappy. And to think we can’t even do an over the counter withdrawal just doubles the inconvenience.

Read my blog: http://innerramblings.tumblr.com/post/630338140

We need to be able to rely on our banks.”

After a few minutes I got a Private message from one of the Personal Bloggers of Unionbank saying this:

May 25 at 4:33pm  ReportHi there this is grace from UnionBank can you give me a call at xxx xxxx loc xxxx. Thanks

Being the sigurista that I am I hesitated and asked a few questions but then eventually called.

I talked to Paula Hozon, who was very apologetic and mentioned that they did not expect the down time to be last this long, and assured me that I will get information from them as soon as the system is running, or if it will continue to persist, then will do everything in their power to help me.

To Unionbank. Again let me say that I am not starting a Vendetta against the bank, but we need to know whats going on, and we need to be kept informed, the internet is almost always a good place to start.

And thank you for addressing our concerns with much care. I am personally relieved to know that you are listening and are taking actions even for just a small person like myself who only have less than 1000 pesos in the bank. I truly am happy that you responded.

Confessions of a "Poor Woman"

I have never been so emotionally defeated by money before, and I also have never been drastically affected by the word OFFLINE either, until today. I woke up knowing that the only money I have left that I have been waiting to clear in my unionbank bank account finally cleared last night. I saved the only 15 pesos I have left to be able to commute from my home to the nearest bank this morning, knowing that I will be coming back home with an adequate amount of money to buy food until pay day on Thursday, but I could never have been more wrong.

I woke up and got ready to go to the bank this morning in a cheerful mood, I even brought along my daughter to accompany me. My First Stop - RCBC Savings Bank ATM - through the very unclear monitor of the ATM my first attempt at withdrawal failed. OOPS, RCBC Savings is not linked with Megalink, My bad. So I went inside RFC to go the BPI ATM and viola the machine is currently Broken, stuck on a page where it said, please take receipt. Then I went to BDO ATM, finally a machine that was working perfectly fine and with a readable screen, I tried to withdraw and the machine told me, Account Temporarily Inaccesible Please contact your Bank. So that’s when I decided to spend another 8 pesos that I was able to rummage from my bag and go to Unionbank. As I was heading to the ATM the words OFFLINE flashed in front of my eyes, and I feel so inconvenienced I was ready to retaliate. I asked the guard how long the ATM will be offline, and he said they don’t have an idea. I asked if it affects all ATM transactions and not just this machine, they said its a network Offline, so I cannot withdraw from ANY ATM. I went inside to ask if I can do an over the counter transaction instead, they said NO, because all systems are OFFLINE. I asked them if they were able to give out NOTICES to all their Customers about this, because like me, a person counting on that particular money, on that particular day, to be able to buy food to cook and to eat may be heavily inconvenienced. They said NO, they only knew about the System OFFLINE this morning. I was ready to cry.

There I was, holding my daughters hand, it already started raining outside, no money in my pockets, and this bank personnel telling me that I can’t withdraw the only money I have left to buy food and to commute home. I felt defeated, stressed and distressed, but there was nothing I could do. I sat down a little bit and rummaged through my bag, perhaps I could find more coins to allow myself and my daughter a comfortable tricycle ride home. I found the 10 Singapore Dollars that Noel gave me as a souvenir when Nike and I were leaving Singapore. A blessing it truly was. Nike and I walked from Unionbank back to our original destination RCBC Bank - Crossed the Street to BDO and just beside that A money changer, Our savior, the 10 Dollars was exchanged to 300 pesos.

I have never felt so bad in my life, the way that I felt during that time. I felt helpless and all I could think about was where will I find the money to buy food? Are we going to walk from here all the way home? I was penniless and frustrated. I felt angry at unionbank that they would have me go through this, I had money. They have it, unfortunately it was OFFLINE — with no real notice for the inconvenience they are causing the life of their customers.

Thanks to the souvenir money I was able to buy food, it will only last for the whole day, so I have tomorrow to worry about. I hope tomorrow I can get my money from the bank.

I don't watch SHOWTIME (abs-cbn show)

I don’t really watch television nowadays except for the constant cartoon shows of my daughter. I usually watch American TV series on my laptop or Movies.

Just a few days (a week or so) ago, I heard about Willie Revillame’s challenge to the management of ABS - CBN, about taking Jobert Sucaldito out otherwise HE (Willie) will be quitting the famous WoWoWee Show (which I don’t watch either). I usually catch his show during lunch time when my Family (in Pasig) eats lunch, they are avid watchers, and I don’t really like Willie (I think he is arrogant and obnoxious), so I don’t watch it.

And today I was going through my usual scan of the facebook updates and noticed my friend posted a hate status message for Vice Ganda (a local gay comedian and a regular judge at the Showtime noon time show). So I got intrigued.

Here was the original status message of my friend

says ang OA ng reaction ni VICE towards TADO’s point of view or belief.. Kanya-kanyang pananaw ba.. :)

So I searched google for what happened and read a few blogs about it.

here’s what I said to my friend:

mahilig din naman mag-asar si vice diba.. sana di sha pikon.. hehe.. may mga taong homo phobe, di naman maaalis un eh.. vice should accept the fact na may ganun, and hindi lang si tado ang nagjojoke about gays, even gays joke about gays.. if vice is comfortable with his sexuality, he shouldnt have taken offense kasi mga biro and ung “mukha kang bakla” is a typical phrase na people say… hehe”

And forgot about this whole Tado vs. Vice Ganda Issue.

Tonight I got bored and saw an update on my FB that my friend answered my post on her original status update:

“

i got irritated when Vice reacted that way.. it’s as if naman na hindi joke yung sinabi ni Tado.. kung sya nga makapanglait ng kapwa sobra din eh.. si Tado naman tlagang known sya na hater ng mga gays..”

and this one really peaked my interest

i haven’t noticed that one yet.. pero malamang oo.. tumataas na level ng kasikatan nya.. well with those posts on his wall, sana naman matuto sya sa nangyari ke Willie.. almost all says na parang si willie na din sya.. mayabang na daw kesyo kung anu-anu.. and mean words tlaga.. pero kasi sya din may fault eh.. why can’t he accept the fact na hindi lahat ng tao sa mundo kayang tanggapin ang existence ng mga gays..”

The mention of Vice Ganda’s fan page being overtaken by those who felt that Vice Ganda has been rude and obnoxious, So I went to that page and saw a link to a youtube video with the whole incident.

Watch:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84eab7bKrHI

I personally think that Vice Ganda took the innocent comment of Tado about the group who just performed. Tado mentioned that their movements seemed like that of a gay person. — A lot of people use this expression “Para kang Bading or Mukha kang Bading” (you seem gay / you look gay) this is not an expression of hate towards gay, but is a common expression and joke, my girlfriends tell that to each other everytime when we try to joke to each other that one of us looks like a Man. And if the performance of the group seemed soft and not hardhitting, I believe what Tado said is not a statement of hate toward the gays but just a mere expression saying that he thinks they were soft.

My second opinion is that Vice Ganda is out of line, because it was Tado’s turn to speak, and not just that, Vice Ganda should have dropped the issue (that HE personally started) when Tado just wanted to go back to commenting on the performance. Vice Ganda should have stopped the PERSONAL COMMENTS about Tado, because Tado never said anything personal to HIM (Vice Ganda).

I salute Tado for staying cool headed in this situation, although I believe deep inside he is seething with anger due to the personal strike against him. And I want to say to Vice Ganda, that you of all people should understand the nature of jokes and understand the jokes themselves, you are a comedian. Even you give comments that are often below the belt, and people take them because they know they are jokes. You take what you give, and when people take your comments, they take it and laugh, you should do the same. And commenting on Tado’s looks is just way out of line, it is personal and hateful and just not the type of attitude I personally want my TV to have.

These are my personal opinions of the short clip that I was able to watch. Again, I am not a fan of the show, so I have not been able to watch the whole show and am basing my comments on the clip that I was able to see. But regardless if there were faults on both side, I think based on the 10 minutes of this clip, Vice Ganda did not handle Himself well and should apologize not only to Tado but to the people watching the show.

ADD:

I looked for some more clips and found this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGxg2gip_8M

At around 4 minutes 30 seconds of the clip, Vice Ganda commented about Tado losing his electoral battle in Marikina:

Vice: oo hindi ka nanalo…ngayon alam namin kung bakit…ang dami ko kaibigan bakla kumandidato nanalo.

If this was said in a way that is not offending (ngayon alam namin kung bakit) and with no relation to the gay issue (that you so emotionally MADE UP), it would have been ok to comment about someone losing the elections. You should have been sympathetic to his loss and not put it out there the way that you did, because it not just made you look like a fool, you looked like an obnoxious fool. You think you are funny? I personally do not think so.

Writing with Pleasure

I have just finished another 4 projects for the travel company I am working with and I must say it really feels fulfilling to be able to do what I do best as work.

Ever since I learned how to use the computer (when I was 7 years old) I have been very adept in researching and gathering online information that none of my other relatives / friends knew where to find, and I loved doing it. It gives me a sense of pleasure being able to find what I need and being able to help people find what they are looking for, I’ve done it for years… 19 years to be precise and I have never grown tired of it. Even my husband would occasionally say, “Can you go look for this thing for me on the web, you are way better at it than I am…” and I must say I really am better at it than he is LOL.

I was also very interested in writing, I used to love the idea of having my own diary, but everytime I buy one, I end up not writing in it. I guess it bores me to actually try and scribble something, besides, I was not the type of student who wanted to take down notes in class — so it would only make sense that I do not like the actual motion of writing. But I do love to write, in the theoretical sense of the word, because I do not actually write but I TYPE. I keep journals about my life and my thoughts on my computer, I used to do a lot of this ever since I was 16 years old, I kept daily notes of my life, typed in in word and saved it in my computer. Then I realized I could do an internet blog, during the peak of blogging, I was one of the people who started my own blog. I did journals of my life, reviews of movies, and informative pieces about anything I could think of. But I stopped for a while. I guess I became very busy with taking care of “Love Life” and become obsessed with Boys like every girl.

I often came back to writing as the years passed by, I wrote blogs in multiply, or in blogspot, but none of them were ever really successful, in a way that I continually wrote in them. I wasn’t really able to rekindle my passion for writing all those years, except this year. I started Tumblr when one day I just thought, I should go back to writing, and I did. And after that I landed a Travel Writing Work From Home job that I truly love and enjoy.

I guess it was fate that made me go back to writing blogs again, it was my life’s foreshadowing of what lies ahead for me. I have never had a professional writing career, and the thought of landing a writing job eluded me for years. Who would have thought that I would get this one, not me certainly, but I am thankful and grateful that I did. Because not only do I enjoy what I do, but I appreciate it every moment I do it.

Now I am just waiting on a new project, and for the mean time just filling my days with empty tasks.

Paid to do what I love

I love writing and researching, and just recently I found a job that will let me do both. I became a Travel Researcher / Writer for a Travel Company. And I just love it. I loved researching about the hotels and reviewing each hotels that I come across.

My first paid project was for Canterbury, Kent, UK hotels. And I had such a blast doing it, and today I finally received my first pay for that specific project and it felt amazing.

I am finally doing something that I love doing, and I am on top of the world. Now this will be a short blog, because I need to finish my second project. Wish me Luck!
